areas of practice
At ChatterBugs Speech Therapy, we provide support to children in the following range of practice areas:
Our Services
We offer the following services:
1
Initial Intake Form
Prior to your initial appointment, you will need to complete an intake form online. This intake form consists of a range of questions, which allows for the speech pathologist to gain a better understanding of your child and your child’s speech therapy needs. It is important that this form is filled out with as much information as possible. This will ensure the speech pathologist can plan the appropriate assessments and/or screeners for your child’s first appointment.
2
Assessment
Assessments are completed to gain an in-depth overview of your child's communicative strengths and challenges. This will allow for us to identify any areas of concern in their speech, language, literacy and/or social communication development. Depending on your child’s needs, a screening assessment or a comprehensive assessment will be conducted in the initial appointment. Depending on the assessment type and the child’s engagement, these assessments may take up to a few sessions to complete.
3
Summary Report
At the conclusion of the assessment, the speech pathologist will book in time to analyse your child's results from the assessment and/or screeners and write a report outlining these results and recommendations. This report will be discussed with you in your child's next appointment, and speech therapy goals will be developed for ongoing therapy.
4
Speech Therapy Sessions
Speech Therapy sessions are booked for 60 minutes, which includes a 45 minute face to face therapy service and 15 minute non-clinical administration time (e.g., note writing, sending homework and resource development). Depending on the recommendations and goals outlined in the summary report, weekly or fortnightly sessions are offered. The frequency of these sessions are continuously discussed throughout speech therapy sessions, as the ultimate goal is to discharge your child once their goals are achieved!
5
Home Programs
Home programs consist of step by step instructions with fun and engaging activities that can be completed by you at home with your child to continue to support their speech therapy goals outside of their speech therapy sessions. This is a great option if your child cannot attend their face-to-face appointment.
